The 2008 route is shown below
Carr Lane will be closed from 5.45 pm until 8.15 pm from its junction with Britannia road to the eastern junction with Station Road. Traffic from Lewisham Road will be unable to turn right and will need to proceed along Carr Lane and find their way back to Britannia Road via Station Road, or via Cross Street, left on New Street, right on Platt Lane and Bridge Street. New Street will not be closed, but it will be better for traffic not to try to gain access to Carr Lane as the road will most likely be blocked by lots of people.
The blue line with the arrows shows the processional route, with the orange one indicating the diversion for traffic that will be in place from 5.45 until 8.15.
During the procession, stewards will be on hand to give motorists advice on which way is best to travel. While the procession is on Crimble Bank, Hill top Road and Royd Street, traffic will be advised to travel in the same direction as the procession due to the narrow roads. Buses will be asked to stop, or divert.
Four members of the West Yorkshire Police will lead the way, and the procession will be followed by a large "sweeper" vehicle suitably marked with lights.
