NHS Kirklees is the main NHS body responsible for healthcare and improving the health of people living across the district. We are the champion for better health and make sure local NHS services reflect the needs of local people as well as offer value for money.
With a budget of £585 million NHS Kirklees is responsible for commissioning a range of health services including hospitals, ambulances, mental health and other specialist services and agrees contracts with local GPs, dentists, pharmacists and optometrists to deliver high-quality services for everyone. We provide a range of community-based health services including district nursing, health visiting, sexual health and contraception services, podiatry and child health services. We work jointly with Kirklees Council on a number of projects to improve the health and well being for all the people of Kirklees.
As well as treating you when you're unwell, our role is to provide the advice and help you need to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Whether you want to stop smoking, need advice about diet and exercise, immunisations, sexual health or drugs and alcohol we can point you in the right direction. We also host and provide support programmes to help you maintain good social and mental health. Including specialist help if you are suffering with anxiety, depression or phobias and information courses to help you live well, if you have a long term medical condition.
